FOR THE CAROLINAS CEMENT COMPANY

Great News! We're very excited to report that after four years of technical review, the Division of Air Quality of the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) has issued an air quality permit to construct a cement plant in Castle Hayne, N.C. Full details are contained in the attached press release.

We respect the fact that highly technical initiatives can be misunderstood; facts are sometimes distorted and exaggerated. Unfortunately, emotional untruths can easily cloud good judgment. Answering your questions and concerns is very important to us. We have provided a list of what we know to be some of the most commonly discussed myths about this project with up-to-date, honest responses. We want you to appreciate the Carolinas Cement project for the responsible, smart initiative that it truly is. If you still have questions, we encourage you to contact us directly.

Our air permit follows all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations. It incorporates the best available technology currently in commercial use within the cement industry to control air emissions. These US laws and regulations are among the strictest in the world.
